Feature Friday: Shoes of Prey

Posted on April 19, 2013 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Feature Friday, Home, Look of the Day, Shopping, Trends No Comments

Hey Afaconados!

I’m SO sorry for not doing one of these in a while, but I like to save Feature Friday for boutiques that are unique and hard to find. Well thanks to my bestie, I got the low-down on a fabulous site called Shoes of Prey!

Shoes of Prey is a website that allows you to express your creativity by designing your very own pair of shoes. For a price of $299, you get to choose from a selection of 12 different types of shoes that range from flat sandals to platform pumps. Once you’ve done that, just choose your colors, select your fabric, add embellishments (if you like)…and your done! It’s as simple as that. The website steps you through every part of the process, making it easy for you to let your inner Christian Louboutin shine through.

Take a look at what’s available in their Gallery (Please Note: All photos are courtesy of the Shoes of Prey website):

Feature Friday: Ruche

Posted on September 14, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Feature Friday, Home, Shopping, Trends 3 Comments

Hey Afaconados!

It’s Feature Friday and I’m very pleased to present…Ruche! I stumbled upon today’s feature while doing some searching on the internet for vintage clothing and boy am I glad I did! You should all know by now how crazy I am about vintage clothing. What I love about Ruche is that their clothing is vintage inspired but some of it also has a modern edge to it so you get the best of both worlds.

Created by husband and wife team Josh and Mai Olivo, Ruche started out as a hobby. Mai Olivo initially began by selling vintage inspired beaded sandals on eBay. As a recent graduate with a degree in Computer Science, Mai found it hard to find affordable clothing that was equally as fashionable and unique. This gave her the idea to begin selling clothing. What started out as a home based business eventually grew into a lucrative organization that allowed Mai and Josh to quit their corporate jobs and work on their business full time. Now that’s what I call a success story!

Here are some of their items:

Fine Details Pleated Dress: $50

Arabella Dress by Darling UK: $67

Quaint Woodland Sweater: $39

Romantics in Rome Skirt: $57

Evening Sophistication Colorblock Clutch: $33

Feminine Mystique Pumps: $40

This is definitely an online boutique worth checking out! I’m about to make my first purchase right now!

Until next time!

LOTD: In The Jungle – Print Mixing!

Posted on September 14, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Home, Look of the Day, Shopping 4 Comments

Hey Afaconados!

I don’t normally do more than one post per day but I got a lot of compliments on my dress and shoes at work today so I thought I’d share what I wore with you all. Please keep in mind that I haven’t quite mastered my tripod yet, and I’m still getting used to taking pictures of myself….it just feels so weird being in front of a camera with no one behind it.

The dress I have on in the picture is vintage and I purchased it in Brooklyn, NY. The belt is Ralph Lauren but I bought it at TJ Maxx and my shoes are by FALCHI by Falchi Shoes and they were purchased at Macy’s.

Take a look:

LOTD: Boho Chic – I Finally Got A Tripod!

Posted on September 9, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Home, Look of the Day, Shopping, Trends 2 Comments

Hey Afaconados!

After hearing all of the great success stories at the IFB Conference and finding out how other bloggers have incorporated personal style into their blog posts, I decided to finally get a tripod of my own so I can show you guys the types of outfits I like to put together. I like to focus more on content, so don’t expect to see an outfit post every day, but I will do some of them from time to time. Eventually, I’d like to start doing Style Snatches on myself instead of using Polyvore….so stay tuned!

I like to think of myself as somewhat of an amateur photographer and have always enjoyed taking pictures as a hobby. I can’t think of a time in my life when I did not own a camera. It’s a gorgeous day today and this morning when I took my dog Basil out, I got the rare opportunity of being able to see the sun coming up. As soon as I saw it I bolted inside to grab my camera. I took a couple of shots but chose the two I liked the most. Oh! And I even got a shot of pretty little bird that flew into view while I was taking pictures.

Here are my two favorites:

Anyway, after getting the tripod today I came home and started fiddling around with it. I have a lot of work to do when it comes to figuring out how to get the camera to take more focused pictures because the ones I took were kinda blurry. I chose to do a Boho Chic outfit today. Sometimes I think I was born a Hippie because I just naturally gravitate towards outfits that are free flowing and loose. I always try to add a modern spin on them though so that I don’t end up looking completely like a flower child.

For my look, I paired a Chambray Button-Down Shirt by BDG with a Pleated Chiffon Skirt by Sparkle and Fade. Both items were purchased at Urban Outfitters. I popped the softness of the skirt and masculinity of the boyfriend shirt with a pair of Leopard Bethany Platform Wedges by FALCHI by Falchi Shoes. To top it all off, I added a Multicolor Bead Short Link Necklace by Noir Jewelry (purchased on Gilt Groupe) and a simple woven turquoise clutch I purchased in Argentina. Chunky jewelry and animal print play a key role in making this look really stand out.

Here’s my look (pardon the quality):

Top: BDG Chambray Button-Down Shirt – $59, Bottom: Sparkle & Fade Pleated Chiffon Skirt – $59, Both from Urban Outfitters. Shoes: FALCHI by Falchi Shoes, Bethany Platform Wedge Sandals – $79, Purchased at Macy’s.

Necklace: Multicolor Beaded Short Link Necklace by Noir Jewelry, Purchased from Gilt Groupe

I’m looking forward to doing more of these types of posts! I hope you enjoyed it!

Until next time!

LOTD: Muted Prints That Still Pop

Posted on August 29, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Home, Look of the Day, Shopping, Trends No Comments

Hey Afaconados!

My mixed prints “Look of the Day” makes a statement with the prints, but certainly not with the colors. I chose to do muted colors today because I wanted to show you an example of how you can still pop an outfit that isn’t bold in color. This is a look that will let the prints and accessories do the talking!

For this set, I paired a black and white polka dot top with gray floral jeans. I topped it off with a darker gray tote and wedge booties. Everything is muted, but the outfit still pops!

Here’s my set:

LOTD: Muted Prints

If you’re worried about the “soon to change” weather temperatures, this look can easily transition into a Fall look by simply adding a cardigan. I’d love to see pictures if you decide to try a muted mixed print look of your own!

LOTD: Boho Chic

Posted on August 23, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Home, Shopping, Trends No Comments

Hey Afaconados!

Tomorrow is Friday which is by far my favorite day of the week because it kicks off the weekend…and this weekend for me is going to be a blast! I’m getting ready for my trip to The Big Apple and I could not be more excited! The outfit I put together for today’s set is one that I plan on wearing while in NYC. I’m a Bohemian at heart so I love long maxi skirts that flow easily and give that laid back look. Plus, with the wonderful weather we’ve had lately, this look would be an excellent fit!

If you’re interested in getting this look, just direct your attention to the bottom of this post to find out where you can purchase each item.

Style Snatchin: Melissa George

Posted on July 28, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Home, Shopping, Style Snatchin, Trends No Comments

Hey Afaconados!

I hope you’re all enjoying your Saturday afternoon, even know it’s hotter than an oven outside. :-) I did a Style Snatch on Melissa George today for all of you ladies out there who may want to get a little adventurous. This look combines the very popular animal print trend with another trend that’s very “IN” this season…the bare midriff.

What I like most about this look is that even though Melissa does bare her midriff, she’s only giving you a little sneak peek. It’s definitely a sexy look, but it’s still very classy.

From now on, I’ll be incorporating the picture I’m snatching into my set so you can compare the two looks.

Here’s both Melissa George’s look and my Style Snatch (*NOTE: Melissa George’s picture is provided courtesy of InStyle.com):

If I weren’t so incredibly bloated today, this would be a look I’d select for tonight’s outing with the girls. :-) It’s sexy, cool, classy and chic all at the same time! :-)

Style Snatchin: Jessica Alba

Posted on July 27, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Home, Shopping, Style Snatchin, Trends 1 Comment

Hey Afaconados!

While surfing the internet this evening I came across a photo of Jessica Alba and fell in love with the outfit she had on so I just HAD to do a Style Snatch on it!

Jessica Alba is popular for wearing very cool and casual clothing…Effortless Chic is what I like to call it! In the photo, she’s wearing a navy blue blazer, paired with a simple white tank, striped skirt and blue wedge shoes.

Here she is (Please note that the photo is courtesy of InStyle.com):

For my Style Snatch, I found a cute striped skirt sold by Modcloth, paired with a pair of wedge shoes by Naughty Monkey, a plain white tank, TopShop blazer and Oasis shoulder bag.

Feature Friday: Nasty Gal

Posted on June 22, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Feature Friday, Home, Shopping No Comments

Hey Afaconados!

It’s Feature Friday! This week’s highlight is Nasty Gal. Now doesn’t that just sound like a great place to shop? LOL! Just kidding :-)

Nasty Gal, founded by Sophia Amoruso, began in 2006 as an Ebay storefront that sold a highly curated selection of vintage clothing. After growing at a rapid rate in just 5 years, this unique online destination has gone international, selling a wide variety of both new and vintage clothing.

As a huge fan of vintage clothing, I love that Nasty Gal offers good quality vintage clothing that is on trend. It’s obvious that they choose their selections carefully. If you decide to check out Nasty Gal, a word of caution…this site is definitely not for you “shy” gals out there. It’s called Nasty Gal for a reason. A lot of the pieces are body conscious pieces, showing lots of leg and torso. The selections I chose to showcase for this post are on the more conservative side. Here are a few of the New items:

Belted Crochet Dress – $68 at www.nastygal.com

Bette Platform Wedge – $135 at www.nastygal.com

Mad Mesh Jumpsuit – $78 at www.nastygal.com

On Edge Linen Jacket – $68 at www.nastygal.com

And here are some of the Vintage offerings:

Graphic Floral Shirt Dress – $118 at www.nastygal.com

Candy Cotton Romper – $88 at www.nastygal.com

Artemis Drape Dress – $198 at www.nastygal.com
