In Retrospect: Last Week’s Instagram Outfits

Posted on April 3, 2013 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Home, Look of the Day, Shopping, Trends No Comments

Hey Afaconados!

Last week was a tough one for me. It’s not always easy to look into you closet with new eyes, taking the time to carefully select pieces to wear in a different way from how you’ve worn them previously. I can literally stand in my closet for about 2 hours trying to create different looks. Why? Oh! Why am I not a spoiled heiress with nothing better to do than shop all the time? :-(

Oh well, enough of that…Here’s a look at what I wore last week:

Tunic: Purchased on Ideeli (old) // Boots: Purchased from Old Navy (old) // Scarf: Zara

The girl just knows how to put clothes together folks…we all can learn a thing or two about fashion from her.

LOTD: Pop and Circumstance

Posted on October 9, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Home, Look of the Day, Shopping, Trends 5 Comments

Hey Afaconados!

You guys know how much I love animal prints these days…so when I saw this curve hugging high-waist snake-print pencil skirt on The Limited’s website, I just HAD to have it! In the spirit of wearing an outfit in multiple ways, I thought I’d pop my new snake skin skirt with a bright red tank and then do another look with darker colors.

Here are my outfit details:

Skirt: High-Waist Snake-Print Pencil Skirt from The Limted – On sale for $35, Tank: Mossimo Supply Co. Juniors Long and Lean Tank in Red and Black from Target – $8, Blazer: Jogging Blazer with Silk Satin Tuxedo Collar from Zara – $90, Necklace: Necklace of Chains and Rope with Coloured Stones from Zara – $30, Shoes: Boutique 9 (purchased a few years ago).

Here are my 2 looks:

What a difference a color pop makes! Until next time!

LOTD: Saturday Inspiration – The New Chic!

Posted on August 25, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Home, Look of the Day, Shopping, Trends 2 Comments

Hey Afaconados!

It’s the weekend and you know what that means…time to start deciding what to wear out on the town tonight! I find conventional club looks to be boring. Anyone can throw on a tight dress with stilettos…it just doesn’t require any thought whatsoever. Why not step up your “Chic” and try something new?

The set I put together today is super sophisticated and certainly not what you can typically expect to find in a night club setting. I like to call it “The New Chic” because although you may see this type of outfit often, it’s not a normal look for the club scene.

The combo includes red skinnies, tuxedo jacket, a pair of leopard print pumps and a wide bib necklace. I actually own all of these pieces and will be taking a very similar outfit with me on my trip to NYC next weekend, so don’t ever think the sets I create are things I don’t (or won’t) wear. I didn’t put a top underneath because that can be anything you want….collared shirt, tank, bandeau top…you name it! And the great thing about jackets is…they can come off! If you’re afraid you won’t be sexy enough…try a bandeau top, crop top or tank top so you can show off some skin.

Check it out:

Style Snatchin: Olivia Palermo

Posted on June 7, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Home, Shopping, Style Snatchin 5 Comments

Hey Afaconados!

I was combing the internet today and came across a look I’m in love with that was worn by Olivia Palermo at the opening of Faberge’s New York flagship store recently. Olivia looked beyond chic in her tuxedo jacket, complete with black shorts, striped top and $945 Manolo Blahnik satin pumps (not kidding on the price). Did I neglect to mention that the Faberge necklace she wore was a 35.06 carat diamond necklace?

One of my favorite things to do is to find celebrity styles that I’d like to try out on my own, but not at the huge expenses that celebrities pay. I literally spend hours on end at times looking for comparable, and affordable pieces to match a look I’m in love with. Since all of us don’t have the cash flow to afford designer duds, I thought I’d take Oliva’s look and throw together a look of my own using pieces that are attainable. Here is Olivia’s look:

And here’s the look I created using selections that can be found on the internet:

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with snatching someone’s style, just make sure you own it if you do. And remember, you don’t have to empty your savings account to be trendy. Until next time!
