Fashion Tips: Dressing Your Age

Posted on August 1, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Home, Shopping No Comments

Hey Afaconados!

I was in the grocery store the other day and saw an older woman (who was obviously older) wearing an outfit that an 18 year old would wear. I’m talking cut off shorts and a very tight corseted top. Although I tried really hard not to stare, it was hard not to. If I had to guess, this woman had to have been over 50 years old. Needless to say, I felt she was VERY inappropriately dressed for her age.

As a woman in her mid 30s, I understand how it feels to see your youth slipping away (or at least feel as though it is). I equally understand not EVER being ready to pull out the “Mom Jeans” and slip on the orthopedic shoes to go run errands on the weekend. But does that mean we should dress like 18 year olds when we’re clearly over 50? I say NO.

For today’s article, I’ve selected some gorgeous women over 40 who are unbelievably sophisticated and elegant. I tried not to go with the obvious, which would be actresses and models…they get paid a lot of money to continue looking youthful and unfortunately some of their methods include plastic surgery.

Check them out:

First Lady Michelle Obama – Age 48

Soledad O’Brien – Age 45

Anna Wintour – Age 62

Oprah Winfrey – Age 58

Judith Jamison – Age 69

These five women are fabulous and they clearly prove that age ain’t nothing but a number. They exude style, class and sophistication while not wearing their ages on their sleeve. There’s nothing wrong with being sexy at any age, but don’t feel you have to bare it all to be seen as such.

Until next time!
