Style Snatchin: Street Snaps

Posted on June 30, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Home, Style Snatchin, Uncategorized 2 Comments

Hey Afaconados!

It’s Day #6 and the last day to get in on the giveaway. Remember, you have until Midnight tonight to get your entry in so don’t delay, enter now!

Today’s Style Snatch was taken from a Street Snap that I’ve wanted to do for a while now, but I couldn’t quite find the right pieces to put it together. It encompasses both the Pastel and Mixed Print Trends so it’s double the fun! The look consists of a blue and white striped button down shirt, mint colored cardigan and blush pink pencil skirt. It’s topped off with multi-strand pearls and leopard print ballet flats. Here’s the Street Snap:

The ballet flats in the Street Snap are milder than the ones in my set, but you get the point right? :-) Here is my Style Snatch:

Style Snatchin: Street Snaps

This look would be a definite hit in the office or for a lunch date with colleagues. So much fun!

Until next time!

Feature Friday: C. Madeleine’s

Posted on June 29, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Feature Friday, Home, Shopping 3 Comments

Hey Afaconados!

We are on Day #5 of the giveaway and I can’t believe it’s still going strong! The turn out was far more than I expected. I’m so excited to see who the winner is going to be. Please make sure you don’t miss out on your chance to win a fabulous piece of jewelry absolutely free! And stay tuned for other giveaways, as I will be doing one every month.

Today’s Feature Friday post is dedicated to one of my absolute favorite vintage websites, C. Madeleine’s. I have to be honest, I have yet to patronize this site, but it’s only because their vintage is of the highest quality and where there’s high quality, there’s a hefty price tag that comes with it. The important thing to remember though, is that you SHOULD want high quality vintage. These pieces, after all, are investments.

As a former interior decorator with a vast knowledge of the Fashion Industry, C. Madeleine’s founder Madeleine Kirsh decided to use that knowledge to begin curating a “to die for” collection of vintage pieces. Named “Miami’s Best Kep Secret” by Vogue, C. Madeleine’s has proven since it’s inception in 1988, that providing the best quality vintage would consistently be part of its “repertoire”. This site offers an amazing selection of some heavy hitting designer names like Chanel (there’s even a Chanel Boutique section), Yves Saint Laurent, Lanvin, Gucci and Givenchy. Here are some of their offerings:

Chanel Tan Polka Dot Dress: $630 at www.cmadeleines.com

Chanel Blush Pink Blouse: $475 at www.cmadeleines.com

1960s Pucci Neon Pink Tapered Pants: $185 at www.cmadeleines.com

Christian Dior Limited Edition Green & Pink Saddle Bag: $840 at www.cmadeleines.com

Jimmy Choo Denim Heels: $210 at www.cmadeleines.com

Believe me, I could post pictures of items available on this site for days. They truly have a great selection of vintage clothing that’s worthy of checking out. If you’d like to visit C. Madeleine’s they are located at http://www.cmadeleines.com.

Until next time!

Model Love: Lara Stone

Posted on June 28, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Home, Model Love 4 Comments

Hey Afaconados!

It’s Day #4 of the Giveaway folks! Time is running out but there’s still time for you to get your entry in if you’re interested in winning a FABULOUS Kendra Scott bracelet valued at $135!

My Model Love dedication for today is Lara Stone. Maintaining the #1 spot on the international website Models.com is no easy feat, but Lara Stone seems to do it with ease. Discovered at the age of 15 by Elite Modeling Agency in Paris, the Dutch born Lara Stone has proven that, at the age of 28 (considered old for a model) she can have a long career and still be on top.

I’m a fan of the “unconventional”, and Lara definitely falls in that category to me. What I love about Lara’s look the most is her signature gapped teeth. She has opened shows for Fendi, MaxMara, Marc Jacobs and Balmain…all of whom are some of my favorites designers. In 2009, she was featured on the August cover of W as Fashion’s new “It Girl”, while replacing Sasha Pivovarova as the new face for Prada’s fragrance Infusion  d’Iris in 2010. Check out some of her work:

Fashion Tip: Pattern on Pattern Outfits

Posted on June 27, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Home, Shopping, Trends 2 Comments

Hey Afaconados!

It’s Day #3 of the Giveaway and the momentum is still going strong! Don’t miss out on your chance to get something for absolutely nothing :-)

The fashion we see today is bold. It seems like more and more people are breaking free from their shell by choosing to wear looks that are less than conventional. Some examples of this are the Pattern Mixing, Neon Brights and Art Deco Graphics trends. All of those trends require a daring personality in order to be pulled off. But what about wearing Pattern on Pattern outfits? I know it sounds completely crazy, but when done right, it can actually look quite cool.

A word of caution…it takes some thought to put Pattern on Pattern looks together. Too much of a good thing will definitely get you in trouble and before you know it, you’ll look like a clown. Check out some of the looks I found:

Flowers with Flowers

Polka Dots with Polka Dots

Stripes with Stripes

Stripes with Stripes

I think of all these looks, the floral look will be the hardest to pull off so if you decide to try it, go light! All of them are fun looks though, so enjoy it!

I’d love to see pictures if any of you try this. Please feel free to send me pictures of your Pattern on Pattern look and I’ll post them so people can see how stylish and daring you are!

Until next time!

Style Snatchin: Olivia Palermo’s Mixed Print Look

Posted on June 26, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Home, Shopping, Style Snatchin, Trends, Uncategorized 2 Comments

Hey Afaconados!

It’s Day #2 of the Giveaway! The response yesterday went very well and I’m hoping to keep up the momentum as the week continues! Get in while you can!

I am completely obsessed with everything that Olivia Palermo wears! She is truly a Style Maven. For today’s Style Snatch, I did my own version of one of her mixed print looks. I really appreciate how daring Olivia is. She’s bold enough to mix prints that most people would never think to put together. Here’s her mixed print look:

Olivia Palermo – Mixed Print Look

How incredibly chic is that?! For my version of Olivia’s look, I had to get a little creative. A lot of the floral pants on the internet are either skinny jeans or leggings, and she is clearly not wearing either one of those. I chose to go with a pair of floral trousers that can be found on www.houseoffraser.co.uk. These pants are available for shipping to the United States, so don’t fret. Truthfully, you can wear any scoop neck tee underneath a black blazer. Just make sure the color of the tee is in the same color family as the color of the flowers on the pants. It was impossible to find a blazer with fur like the one she has on, so I went with a basic black blazer. Top off the look with some animal print pumps, and VOILA!

Here’s what I came up with:

Style Snatchin: Olivia Palermo's Mixed Print Look

The question now is…Are you daring enough to try this look?

Fashion Tip: U.S Pride!

Posted on June 26, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in FaçonFlip by Ashleigh 1 Comment

What’s Up Future Flippers!

As we all know, the 2012 Olympics is coming around, and as we watch the qualifying races and root for our favorite team, we can take a minute to root for the U.S. with STYLISH pride. Let’s say you are rooting for more than one team (for me it’s U.S.A and Jamaica), or you’re not rooting for the U.S. at all, that’s okay because this post has nothing to do with the Olympics, I just thought this would be a good time to mention it :-)

This post is about the very fun new trend where every human in the fashion world rocks the U.S. flag on their body! Check it out:

This really excites me because it’s a chance to get creative in my opinion, and while some people take this trend for granted and wear it badly, there are some people that can wear it very well. Our own Rihanna (pictured above) rocked this look in her “We Found Love” video and it was sooo cute! This look can give off a “hipster loving life” feel or it can be very chic just depending on how you dress it. So take this fun trendy opportunity to express yourself and your style and show people how you dress the U.S. flag.

Ciao!

Fashion Tip: Casual Mixed Print Look for the Office

Posted on June 25, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Home, Shopping, Trends, Uncategorized 3 Comments

Hey Afaconados!

Don’t forget to enter your comment on the Giveaway posting this week so you can have a chance to win a fabulous Kendra Scott bracelet!

The look I put together for this posting is very similar to what I’m actually wearing at work today. I’m lucky to work in an office that doesn’t require that I dress in traditional business attire. Even though I have the option to wear jeans in the office, however, I still like to at least feel like I’m dressed up.

I’m obsessed with the concept of mixing prints these days so every opportunity I get, I’m trying to put together outfits that mix different prints. Check out my set:

How Do You Connect With Fashion? GIVEAWAY DETAILS!

Posted on June 24, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Giveaways, Home, Shopping, Uncategorized 83 Comments

Hey Afaconados!

I’m SO excited to be doing this Giveaway! My plan going forward will be to host a giveaway Every Month so please continue to stay tuned so you don’t miss out! I promise it will be well worth the wait and the posts :-)

Once again, the item up for grabs is a Kendra Scott Stone & Gold Hammered Cuff Bracelet, which retails at $135. The item is brand new and in the bag I received it in. The bag has NOT been opened. Here is a picture:

It’s even prettier in person! Please note that the blue in the picture seems a little brighter than the actual item. I guarantee that the item is authentic, however. Anywhoo…I’m keeping this first giveaway VERY simple…almost too simple seeing as this is a pretty expensive piece of jewelry…call me crazy I guess :-)

The Giveaway duration will be from June 25th – June 30th. Only 1 entry is allowed. All locations are acceptable. MUST be 16 or over to participate.

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS THIS:

1. Comment on THIS post and enter your CORRECT email address. This email address will be what I use to contact you, as well as how you will be entered into the giveaway, so please…no keyboard slip-ups…make sure your email address is correct.

2. In your comment, you MUST tell me how you connect with Fashion. Some examples are as follows: Do you read magazines to connect with Fashion? If so, which ones? Do you monitor celebrity style to connect with Fashion? Do you connect with Fashion by looking at what other people wear? Things like that. I’ll be reading these so please don’t give me boring one liners. Be creative!

3. After leaving your comment, either SHARE the post on Facebook OR TWEET the post via Twitter. Both Facebook and Twitter share buttons can be found at the end of the post, please use those.

THAT’S IT!!

On July 1st, I will be taking all of the email addresses I’ve received and entering them into what’s called a “Randomizer”. A randomizer takes a list of items (in this case email addresses) and randomly places the items in order from first to last. The winner will be whomever the randomizer chooses as the first email address.

The winner will be notified via email on July 1, 2012. In that notification email, I will be requesting a mailing address so I can send the item. The item will be sent within 3 days after I’ve received a mailing address. I will also write a post that same day congratulating the winner.

Please spread the love and let your friends, cousins, sisters, aunties, grandmas, etc..know about the giveaway. No need to be selfish :-)

I will be posting as usual next week so please stay tuned! Good Luck!

Fashion Tips: Cool Summer Looks

Posted on June 22, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Fashion Tips, Feature Friday, Home, Shopping 1 Comment

Hey Afaconados!

Just because it’s Summer doesn’t mean that you have to bare all. I understand it’s hot outside but there are some very popular looks that don’t require your entire body to be exposed. Summer Maxi Skirts are a big hit these days, right along with Fedora hats and Scarves. Remember, as long as you wear scarves made of lighter fabrics, they can actually keep you cool. Weird huh?

I put together one of my favorite, most comfy looks for today’s post. Honestly, all of the pieces in this set are some of my favorites and they work together quite nicely. Check it out:

Cool Summer Looks

See how easy, breezy that looks! All of these pieces are easy to find in some of your favorite local boutiques and department stores. You may even own some of them already. This is definitely a look you should try :-)

Feature Friday: Nasty Gal

Posted on June 22, 2012 by Johnnalynn Lynch in Feature Friday, Home, Shopping No Comments

Hey Afaconados!

It’s Feature Friday! This week’s highlight is Nasty Gal. Now doesn’t that just sound like a great place to shop? LOL! Just kidding :-)

Nasty Gal, founded by Sophia Amoruso, began in 2006 as an Ebay storefront that sold a highly curated selection of vintage clothing. After growing at a rapid rate in just 5 years, this unique online destination has gone international, selling a wide variety of both new and vintage clothing.

As a huge fan of vintage clothing, I love that Nasty Gal offers good quality vintage clothing that is on trend. It’s obvious that they choose their selections carefully. If you decide to check out Nasty Gal, a word of caution…this site is definitely not for you “shy” gals out there. It’s called Nasty Gal for a reason. A lot of the pieces are body conscious pieces, showing lots of leg and torso. The selections I chose to showcase for this post are on the more conservative side. Here are a few of the New items:

Belted Crochet Dress – $68 at www.nastygal.com

Bette Platform Wedge – $135 at www.nastygal.com

Mad Mesh Jumpsuit – $78 at www.nastygal.com

On Edge Linen Jacket – $68 at www.nastygal.com

And here are some of the Vintage offerings:

Graphic Floral Shirt Dress – $118 at www.nastygal.com

Candy Cotton Romper – $88 at www.nastygal.com

Artemis Drape Dress – $198 at www.nastygal.com
